APCYF Meeting Information and Notes
The full membership of the Arlington Partnership for Children, Youth and Families (APCYF) meets the 4th Wednesday of each month, 6:00–8:00 pm at Sequoia Building Lower Level unless otherwise indicated.

Planning and Development: This committee works to foster group development as the Partnership evolves and changes over time. The committee works to build a shared understanding of the Partnership’s vision and mission among members and clarify and redefine the roles of members. This committee meets on the second Tuesdays of each month at 6:00 p.m.
Data – Works to support the research activities of the Partnership. Meets as needed, typically Fridays at 11 at DHS.
Early Childhood: Focus is on early childhood, connecting to parents and messaging the importance of early childhood development. Meets on the third Mondays at 6:00pm at Sequoia.
Mental Health Roundtable: Originally created to address the increases in depressive symptoms, bullying, and other mental health issues reported by Arlington youth in the 2014 Report Card. The purpose of the MHR is to advocate for mental health well-being of all Arlington children and youth. MHR does this by building better communications, coordination and, when possible, collaboration among mental health service providers in the schools, county and community. It works to disseminate information about current and new mental health resources, including informational events and trainings, available to families. Membership include community members, APS mental health administrators, DHS Youth Behavioral Health staff, Community Services Board, Youth and Child Committee members, and representatives from community- based mental health organizations. Teen Network Board (TNB) – This committee supports the TNB mission (Provide a voice for Arlington teens) by working with the teens to develop and implement plans focused on issues they have identified. The committee also works to sustain the TNB and create connections between the Partnership and TNB. Meets 1st and 3rd Tuesdays during the school year, 6:30-8:30pm at Central Library.
Community Engagement Process Committee (CEP) – The Partnership produces a Community Report Card every five years. This Committee looks at the findings of the Report Card and engages the community through work groups and meetings to identify community concerns and develop strategies to address those concerns. Meets as needed.
READY Coalition – Community members from Arlington Public Schools, the Courts, law enforcement, parents, faith communities, Civic Associations, the Community Service Board and others meet in an effort to reinforce the message that “Teen Drinking is Preventable not Inevitable,” and promote a message that marijuana use adds nothing to a teens’ lives while putting their futures at risk. Meets every other month, contact APCYF for schedule.
The Arlington Partnership for Children, Youth & Families seeks individuals interested in becoming community representatives on APCYF Board. Board members work with APCYF’s paid staff to facilitate conversations among various community and school groups in Arlington in an effort promote the Developmental-Asset-Based Model of child and adolescent development (More on the Assets Model). In addition, APCYF identifies community needs through a series of surveys and is responsible for producing a triannual Community Report Card. Board membership involves regular attendance at a monthly meeting, active participation in one of the above committees, and a commitment to building a healthy community in Arlington.
